Established in 1993, the Livermore Area Recreation and Park District created the LARPD Foundation, an independent 501(c)3 nonprofit organization. The LARPD Foundation is governed by a volunteer Board of Trustees who generously donate their time, expertise, and passionate advocacy of the importance in having a strong Parks and Recreation presence within our community.

To improve the quality of life throughout the Livermore Area Recreation and Park District through advocacy, collaboration, and financial assistance, primarily focused on providing recreation opportunities for the underserved and enhancing parks and open space.
Science Camp Pop-up Tents: Purchased pop-up tents for the Open Space Science camp to continue through the rainy season and provide shade for summer programs.
ESS Air Purifiers: Purchased 22 Air Purifiers for ESS Classrooms to help keep students and staff safe through the cold months. THANK YOU NOTE FROM ESS
Staff Thank-You Cookies: A thank you for all the hard work during 2020 to the staff for keeping things running. LARPD Foundation offered a sweet treat from Campbell's Bakeshop to all the staff.
Bike Repair Station at Sunken Gardens Skate Park: Partnered with Superfly Wheels Bike Shop, LARPD, and the Livermore Bike Park Facebook Group to install a new Bike Repair Station at Sunken Gardens Skate Park. (Video Below)
Virtual Programming Equipment: Awarded grant from East Bay Community Energy to fund equipment to enhance virtual programming during COVID-19 and beyond with microphones, lighting, tri-pods, and more. See some of the work at the LARPD Youtube Channel.
Community Support Program: In 2019-20, the LARPD Foundation funded the Community Support Program with $6,000 allowing 79 individuals (72 children and 7 seniors) the ability to participate in summer camps, swim lessons, classes, and programs.

Senior Holiday Luncheon: Financially support the Annual Senior Holiday Luncheon to keep price point affordable for seniors while providing a classy, high-quality experience.
Memorial Bench, Tree, and Picnic Table Program: Facilitated 44 memorial benches (since 1998) and 66 memorial trees (since 1991) throughout our Livermore Area parks and open space with several more trees, benches, and picnic tables preparing for installation.

Steve Goodman
President
Steve Goodman has been a Livermore resident for over 60 years. Steve attended Livermore Schools from K-12 and is a former LARPD employee and Board member. Steve is now retired and enjoys being a grandpa, volunteering and fishing.
David Wetherell
Vice President
David Wetherall is a Livermore Resident and has lived in the Tri-Valley since 1977. He retired from LLNL after 31 years of service and previously served in the Air Force from 1968–1972. David has a passion for philanthropy and has volunteered with the Special Olympics, Cancer Society, Taylor Foundation and the Veteran Hospital. He enjoys being with family, hiking, biking, fishing, creating art, and time spent at Sycamore Grove.
Jill Fracisco
Treasurer
Multicultural, creative sports executive, with extensive experience in event logistics and generating revenue. Jill has been active in the development of youth in sports and their participation in, especially through the sport of soccer on a global stage. Through generations of the Fracisco Family in the Livermore Valley and their active participation in the community and the Arts, Jill hopes to continue her family legacy, serving on the Livermore Area Recreation and Park District Foundation, assisting senior community members with funding of planned projects as well as actively looking for opportunities to assist local children and pets in need for safe areas to play and exercise.
Evan Branning
Trustee
Evan Branning is a local activist and loves the outdoors. He enjoys hiking, biking and other outdoor activities. Among other activities, Evan currently serves on the LARPD Foundation, the City Human Services Commission and the County Public Health Commission. His main focus is to improve access and utilization of open spaces and parks. He believes everyone should get a chance to enjoy Livermore's beautiful scenery and amazing activities.
Nicole Martinez
Trustee
Nicole Martinez is a Livermore resident who grew up in the Bay Area. She has an MBA in business marketing and enjoys being involved in initiatives and projects that benefit the community. For fun, she loves engaging in the wonderful city amenities and events with her husband and dog.
Kim Stange-Herlihy
Trustee
For the past decade, Kim has worked in the Non-Profit industry. For over five years she was the Development Director for the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA) of Northern Nevada. A relocation of her husband's job brought Kim to the North County Humane Society as their Shelter Services Coordinator primarily focusing on community outreach and fundraising. In 2012, an opportunity to return to her home in the Bay Area brought her to Friends of the Alameda Animal Shelter as their Communication and Marketing Director. During her period of employment with these three animal life-saving organizations, she has raised hundreds of thousands of dollars and assisted with more than seven thousand animals that were give a second chance of happiness.
When not working, Kim enjoys spending time with her husband and their five animals. Kim's other passions include health and fitness. As a certified Pilates instructor, she donates some of her time to students with special need who could not normally afford private instruction.
Bill Whalen
Trustee
Bill Whalen feels blessed to call Livermore his hometown since 1962. He attended Livermore Schools from K-12; and with his wife, Dawn, has raised two daughters, Samantha and Sarah, who completed their K-12 education in Livermore as well. Retired from the Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory after 31 years, Bill enjoys swimming, walking and riding his bicycle on the myriad of routes and trails throughout Livermore. Bill is honored to work with the talented members of the LARPD Foundation and give back to the community we call "home".
Maryalice Summers Faltings
Board Liaison
Maryalice Faltings was first elected to the LARPD Board of Directors in 1994. She volunteers at various Livermore Area Recreation and Park District events, has taught a performing class for the Extended Student Services program, is a parks user and takes classes with the District. Maryalice is now retired from a background in parks and recreation, historic preservation and church administration. She enjoys history, theater, traveling and reading. Maryalice has been a Livemore resident since 1992.
