Picnic Rentals

Picnic Sites are available for group rentals

There are many LARPD picnic areas for the community to enjoy.  Reservations are available and encouraged for those that want to secure a specific picnic site and date.  Please read below for more information on rentals and for clarification on when a reservation (permit) is required.

Rentals

• LARPD has four parks with reservable picnic areas:
  • Hagemann Park
  • Independence Park
  • Big Trees Park
  • May Nissen Park, two locations
• Neighborhood parks not included above are not reservable and are open to the community on a first-come, first-serve basis.
• Rental season is March-October
• Reservations (permits) are required:
  • when groups of 15 or more will be present in a group picnic area
  • any time a bounce house will be present in a group picnic area
  • any time alcohol is present in a group picnic area
• Reservation fees are non-refundable*

*In the event of inclement weather, LARPD staff will work with you to find an alternate date for your event. Refunds will not be offered due to inclement weather, including poor air quality.

The following is NEVER allowed at LARPD parks

• Personal BBQs
• Water Balloons
• Pinatas
• Confetti
• Driving a personal vehicle into the park or accessing the park via service roads
• Staking anything into the ground
• Standard 12x12 shade canopies ARE allowed, however, they must be secured with sandbags or water jugs.

Application

Application    Availability Calendar 

• A completed application is required to reserve a picnic site
• Email completed applications to outdoor_facility@larpd.org 
• Applications are accepted year-round
• Applications are accepted on a first-come, first-serve basis 
• Please note, until a reservation is confirmed, availability may change
• Once an application has been approved and paid for, a day-use permit with detailed information regarding your reservation will be issued

Inflatables/Bounce Houses

• Bounce houses are allowed in some LARPD Group Picnic Sites for an additional permit fee
• Bounce house permits are only issued with a picnic reservation
• Bounce houses must be provided by a pre-approved vendor.  Visit <here> for our Pre-Approved Vendor List and more information
• Bounce houses must be placed in LARPD's pre-determined location. See location map under Picnic Rental Locations below
• Standard 15x15 jump houses only
• Inflatables NOT allowed:
  • Waterslides
  • Obstacle courses
  • Personal inflatables/bounce houses
• Reservation fees are non-refundable

Insurance

Liability insurance is required for any reservation where alcohol will be present and/or for groups of 40 or more.  The liability insurance fee is $200.  This fee is determined and charged based on market rate and is subject to change. Insurance policies must be purchased through LARPD.  Personal policies are not allowed.

Deposits

All reservations require a $100 security deposit.  After a reservation, after all rules and protocols are followed, and the picnic area is left clean and undamaged, the security deposit will be refunded.  Security deposits will be refunded back to the original form of payment.  Refunds will be initiated within two weeks of the completion of your rental.

Picnic Rental Locations

Hagemann Park

features a new, large barbecue pit; five (5) picnic tables; a portable restroom onsite March-October; a playground area; a large grass area.  The reservable picnic area is the collection of the five green picnic tables, the barbeque and immediate adjacent areas.
