LARPD Foundation Supports Community Health and Safety During the Pandemic

February 11, 2021 - Livermore, CA - Children and parents who participate in the Livermore Area Recreation and Park District’s (LARPD) Extended Student Services (ESS) program can all breathe a little easier now due to the generous support of the LARPD Foundation.
The ESS program, which has continued to operate during the pandemic providing essential child care and school support for many Livermore families, was in need of additional air purifiers to ensure the ongoing safety of their participants. The LARPD Foundation provided special funding for the purchase of 22 air purifiers that will continue to ensure clean and filtered air for the staff and children in the program.

With health concerns continuing to rise, these new air purifiers will help ease the minds of many local families, reaffirming their children are safe and healthy while participating in the ESS program. “I have started delivering them to the ESS sites and they are thrilled to have another means to help maintain a safe and COVID-19 free environment,” said LARPD Youth Services Administrator, Nancy Blair.

In addition to the air purifiers, the LAPRD Foundation has recently funded pop-up tents to support LARPD outdoor youth programs at Sycamore Grove Park as well as activities and events for seniors citizens keeping them engaged and active during these unprecedented times.

“The Foundation is happy we can help in a small way to make the environment safer for the children and staff at ESS.” says Steve Goodman, LAPRD Foundation President.

The mission of the LARPD Foundation is to improve the quality of life throughout the Livermore Area Recreation and Park District through advocacy, collaboration, and financial assistance, primarily focused on providing recreation opportunities for the underserved and enhancing parks and open space.
