Junior Rangers is a program led by Sycamore Grove park rangers for children ages 9 to 12. This program is all about hiking, camping, playing games, exploring nature, learning outdoor skills, plus lots of fun.
Two sessions are offered throughout the year:
Autumn session begins in September and goes through December, with 7 Saturday meetings, including one overnight campout.
Spring session begins in February and goes until June, with 9 Saturday meetings, including two overnight campouts. Children are welcome to register for both sessions.
Regular meetings are held at Sycamore Grove Park on Saturdays from 9am-1pm. Overnight campouts at Sycamore Grove Park start at noon and run until noon the next day. There are multiple day trips to local parks, with possibilities including Morgan Territory, Sunol Regional Wilderness, Las Trampas Regional Wilderness, Black Diamond Mines, and special access to the restricted portion of Brushy Peak Regional Preserve. Day trips have extended hours.
