Scholarship Funds Extended For Fall Programs

Enriching Lives: LARPD Extends Scholarship Support for Fall Program Enrollment

Livermore, CA – October 6, 2023 – The Livermore Area Recreation and Park District (LARPD) and the LARPD Foundation are pleased to jointly announce available scholarship funds for fall programs, classes, and camps through the Community Support Scholarship Program, ensuring greater access to LARPD's recreation offerings.

May contain: sphere, clothing, footwear, shoe, person, hat, basketball, playing basketball, sport, accessories, bag, handbag, and basketball game

In January 2023, the Rotary Foundation of Livermore matched the LARPD Foundation's contribution of $12,000, resulting in $24,000 in available scholarship funds. This infusion of funds has extended the program beyond the summer, when funds usually are depleted, into the fall session.

"The Foundation has done an incredible job building support in the community the past few years. It has been exciting to watch the scholarship program grow from $6,000 just a few years ago up to $24,000 through their partnership with the Rotary Foundation of Livermore and the success of the Wine Down in the Grove fundraiser," noted David Weisgerber, LARPD Community Outreach Supervisor.

The Community Support Scholarship Program provides partial scholarships based on income eligibility. Eligible families can apply scholarship funds to any of LARPD's programs, including recreation classes, camps, swim lessons, drop-in programs, senior activities, and sports programs.

A parent in the program shared through a translator, "I would like to thank LARPD for all the programs they offer, especially to the Latino community. My son and daughter are very happy with the classes they have been taking. These classes help them be more independent."

LARPD and the LARPD Foundation are committed to fostering a vibrant and inclusive community. Scholarships are available to low-income families in Livermore, ensuring that financial barriers do not prevent anyone from enjoying the benefits of LARPD programs.
