Photography - Improving Your Photos

Livermore Valley Camera Club

Would you like to learn to capture images that tell stories and highlight your memorable moments in a meaningful way? Discover how composition, exposure, f-stop, shutter speed, and ISO work together to improve the artistry of your images. See how different lenses are and know when to use them. Woodcarving

Beginning carvers start with a basic project using a carving knife and progress to a relief project using various chisels and gouges. Students may bring in a project of their choice. The instructor works with each student to develop the skills needed to complete projects.

       LLNL Discovery Center and Lunch at Poppy Ridge

      The Discovery Center provides a window into LLNL's exciting, cutting-edge science. Join us for a FREE self-guided tour and an overview of LLNL.  Visitors will walk through an updated model of the target chamber from the National Ignition Facility, learn more about LLNL's role in the fight against COVID-19, and view an exhibit on our Science in Space... and much more!

      This self-guided tour, presented through a history tunnel, highlights the Laboratory's scientific achievements during the last 70 years.

      • Meet at 11:30 am for lunch at Poppy Ridge Grill, 4280 Greenville Rd., before the LLNL tour!! (Lunch is included in the program fee)
      • Special Lunch menu selections will be emailed to you one week prior to the event for pre-order.

      Trevarno Road History Walk

      Take a nostalgic walk along this shady lane reminiscent of an earlier era, complete with old-fashioned streetlamps. Learn from the Livermore Heritage Guild docent and resident Susan Canfield about the local history of the Craftsman-style bungalows nestled on generous, grassy lots.

      Conclude your walking tour with an outdoor visit to the LARPD Youth Services Office for refreshments.

      Movie Madness in the Vintage Lounge

      Join the Senior Services crew for a movie in the Vintage Lounge at the Robert Livermore Community Center. 

      Movies and trailers will be shared in the monthly Prime Time Newsletter.  Also, monthly movie flyers are available in the Senior Services Lobby area.

      • 1st and 3rd Mondays of each month.
      • The movie begins at  1:00 pm in the Vintage Lounge at the Robert Livermore Community Center.
      • No movies due to Holidays: 01/01, 01/15, and 02/19.
      • No registration is required to attend.

      Monthly pop-up trips throughout Northern California. Trips are typically announced about three weeks prior to the trip date. Sign up for the Pop-Up Trip email list to be notified of upcoming trips.

      If you have questions or need help with issues such as defining various levels of housing and placement needs, If you have inquiries or require assistance on topics like determining housing levels, placement needs, Medicare and Medi-Cal details, legal aid, Health Care Directive information, financial emergencies, and more, the Senior Services office serves as an information and referral source.

      Senior Meals are back indoors! The Open Heart Kitchen "Good Thyme Cafe" lunch program held at the Robert Livermore Community Center is offering a sit-down meal service at the Robert Livermore Community Center.  Please visit the Open Heart Kitchen website for current information on meal service in Livermore https://www.openheartkitchen.org/senior-meals/.

      Chair Yoga

      Discover how to do yoga poses with a chair to help increase flexibility, balance and strength while enhancing mind-body awareness and the ability to relax. There are many benefits that regular yoga practice can bring to one's life including sound sleep, allergy and asthma relief, and reduced stress and anxiety. Chair Yoga is free and classes are available on YouTube with instructor Lakshmi Sajith. Classes are suitable for participants who do not want to get up and down from the floor.
