Explore the Bay Area and beyond! Livermore Area Recreation and Park District offers a variety of day, multi-day and extended trips for people age 50 and older. For our day and multi-day trips, register just for yourself, or for yourself and one other person on a first-come, first-served basis. Most trips are taken in District vans, unless the number of attendees warrants a bus. All trip registrations are accepted in person at the Robert Livermore Community Center, 4444 East Avenue, Livermore, CA. Day trips must be paid for at time of registration, and over-night trips require a $25 nonrefundable deposit at the time of registration. Our Extended trips (five (5) plus days) require a $100 nonrefundable deposit at the time of registration. Non resident rates do apply to all our trips. We accept cancellation request for day trips no less than five (5) prior to the scheduled trip; a $12 cancellation processing fee including incurred costs will be withheld from the cancellation. Cancellations requests will not be accepted after the final payment has been processed and received for all over night and extended trips.

Beach Blanket Babylon is the world’s longest running musical revue. On December 31, 2019, it will end its 45 year run in San Francisco. Time for our yearly visit by motor coach to Nick Sciabica and Sons Olive Oil Factory in Modesto. One of their experts will talk to us about the health benefits of olive oil and provide samples of different flavors of oils. Shop for olive oils, vinegars, gourmet food items and gift packs and eat an included deli lunch in the lecture room. Next stop is Duarte Nursery in Hughson. When you walk into the greenhouse, you will marvel at the variety, colors and sizes of poinsettia and other plants that are available at reasonable prices. Duarte Nursery does not accept credit cards for purchases. After all this shopping, you will be ready for a brief stop on the way home at the Ghirardelli Outlet in Lathrop. Enjoy an included ice cream treat and shop the outlet store for holiday gifts.

We are shaking up our yearly trip to Sonoma County this year to take advantage of a bakery that is only open Thursday to Monday. Day one we will travel to Bodega Bay for lunch and a look around the area where “The Birds” was filmed. We will stop to enjoy the breath-taking views from Bodega Head before heading to Occidental for the night. Day two will begin with a visit to the Wild Flour Bakery in nearby Freestone. Each day they bake 900 loaves of bread that are sold only at this bakery. They also have scones, biscotti and specialty coffees. You will have time to shop, have a coffee and scone, and take a walk through their garden. Next we head to Santa Rosa for a tour of the Luther Burbank Home and Gardens. Lunch is on your own at Willie Birds Restaurant which is known for their turkey dinners. Then we will head home with lots of memories of the ocean, redwoods, farms, gardens and fresh baked bread.
