Naturalist Candace will be your personal guide through the autumn colors of Sycamore Grove Park. Just like the California Indians, native flowers have been in our park from time immemorial. Let's celebrate California Indigenous People’s Day together by learning about their relationship with native plant life.

We are all accustomed to the dry palette of summer and fall (mostly brought to you by invasive nonnative grasses); however, just a couple hundred years ago, California looked vastly different. Candace will share about the California Indians, the impacts of Western colonization and the current impact it has on native flowers.

Plan for a small hike, about 2-3 miles round-trip, with steep incline on the way up, and that same path as a decline on the way down. The trail can be tough to navigate for small children and people with limited mobility because of the loose dirt and grade of incline. Bring a backpack, water and a snack. Wear closed toed shoes (hiking shoes with ankle support are recommended) and appropriate clothing for the weather and outdoors.
