Start the New Year Informed and Protected: Safety Tips from the Livermore Police Department

As we begin the new year, the Livermore Police Department wants to help residents stay safe with these quick and practical safety reminders:

  • Watch for Scams: Be cautious of emails or texts that use urgent language, contain misspellings, or include unfamiliar links. When in doubt, delete the message.

  • Protect Your Belongings: Stay alert while shopping and never leave valuables visible in your vehicle.

  • Prevent Vehicle Break-Ins: Always lock your doors, park in well-lit areas, and hide any valuables.

  • Avoid Payment Scams: No legitimate business or government agency will ask for payment using gift cards.

  • Warm-Up Theft Reminder: Never leave your car running unattended—even for a moment.

  • Senior Scam Awareness: Don’t send money or personal information to someone you’ve only met online. Check with family or a trusted friend first.

  • License Plate Theft: Installing inexpensive security screws can help deter thieves.

The Livermore Police Department encourages everyone to stay informed and take these simple steps to start the year safe and protected.

If you see suspicious activity, report it to the Livermore Police Department.
