Agriculture Day with LVJUSD at Robertson Park
Livermore High Hosts Ag Adventure Day at Rodeo Grounds After Weather Shift

Nearly 1,000 LVJUSD third-grade students, along with teachers and parent volunteers, participated in the annual Ag Adventure Day on Tuesday, April 21, at the Livermore Rodeo Grounds.
The long-standing event is organized by Livermore High School’s Agricultural Department in collaboration with community partners. Traditionally held at Livermore High School, this year’s event was relocated to LARPD’s covered arena due to inclement weather. With limited time to adjust, staff from both organizations worked alongside educators and volunteers to quickly prepare the site and ensure the event moved forward.
Ag Adventure Day introduces students to where their food comes from and the role agriculture plays in everyday life. The event is supported by approximately 300 students from the Livermore High School Future Farmers of America (FFA) program and community partners, who lead handson activity stations throughout the day.
“Years ago, we asked students where their milk comes from, and the overwhelming answer was ‘the grocery store,’” said Sheila Fagliano, Livermore Sanitation’s community relations manager and long-time volunteer with the FFA. “This event is about helping students make that connection in a way that sticks.”
Students rotated through interactive stations covering topics such as cattle roping, milking, water systems, pollination, and the role of working dogs in agriculture and inspection settings. “The FFA students really stepped up this year,” said Joe McNealy, agricultural educator at Livermore High School, who helps coordinate the program alongside Lori Porter and Ashley Porter. “With the last-minute change, they adapted quickly and made sure the day still ran smoothly for the
younger students.”
The successful relocation reflects strong coordination between local partners and a shared
commitment to serving the community.
“This was a great example of organizations coming together to support students and families,” said
Mat Fuzie, General Manager of LARPD. “We’re glad we could provide a space that allowed the
event to continue.”
