Livermore, CA - The Livermore Area Recreation and Park District (LARPD) is proud to announce the launch of its Adaptive Recreation programming, designed to serve individuals of all ages with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD). Rooted in recreational therapy practices, these programs will foster positive social interactions, enhance physical health, and build essential social skills through engaging in community recreation activities.

"I'm excited to bring Adaptive Recreation programs to Livermore," said Makenna Nation, Recreation Coordinator at LARPD. "Offering opportunities that haven't been available before opens up a world of possibilities for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities to engage, connect, and thrive within our community. I look forward to seeing the positive impact these programs will have on participants, their families, and the community."

Adaptive recreation benefits participants by improving their overall well-being and enriches the broader community by promoting inclusivity, understanding, and meaningful connections among all residents.

LARPD’s adaptive recreation offerings include arts and crafts, physical fitness, yoga, hip-hop dance classes, and social events, all tailored to support individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. As the fall season approaches, LARPD has announced plans for additional pop-up events and look forward to a comprehensive schedule of adaptive recreation programming for the spring and summer, continuing its commitment to providing inclusive recreational opportunities for the community.
