Livermore Police Tip of the Month | April 2026

Scam Alert
Seniors in our community are being actively targeted by scammers, with many losing thousands of dollars. In just the past few weeks, the Livermore Police Department has investigated more than 13 cases, with reported losses ranging from $4,000 to over $25,000. These scams are highly convincing, with scammers often posing as your bank or even law enforcement.
What you need to know:
- Your bank will never call and ask for your personal information
- No legitimate agency will tell you to move your money
- No one should ask you to withdraw cash, send Bitcoin, or mail money
If you receive a call like this, hang up immediately.
How to protect yourself:
- Go to your bank in person
- Or contact the police department directly to verify
We also encourage community members to attend a free Scam Awareness Presentation hosted by the Livermore Police Department:
Date: April 15
Time: 7 p.m.
Location: Cedar Grove Community Church
Register here: https://police.livermoreca.gov/community/community-outreach-crime-prevention/scam-awareness
Please take a moment to share this information with your parents, grandparents, and neighbors. Awareness is one of the most effective ways to prevent these crimes.
