May contain: face, head, person, photography, portrait, kissing, romantic, adult, female, and woman

Synopsis:

When 14-year-old Priscilla Beaulieu meets Elvis Presley, the man who was a meteoric rock-and-roll superstar, she becomes someone entirely unexpected in their private moments together: she was his ally in loneliness and gentle best friend.  Through Priscilla's eyes, Sofia Coppola tells the unseen side of a great American myth in Elvis and Priscilla's long courtship and turbulent marriage, from a German army base to his dream-world estate at Graceland, in this deeply felt and ravishingly detailed portrait of love, fantasy and fame.

Mystery Movie Group Review:

The movie, like most, appealed to some of our guests more than others.  It focused only on Pricilla’s isolated life with Elvis; we didn’t gain any insight into what her life was before she met him or after they were divorced.  We were perplexed that her parents allowed her to date Elvis, even when he claimed their visits would be chaperoned, she was certainly too young.  We felt poorly for her, as she had very little control over her own life, because Elvis told her what to wear, how to put on her make up, how to wear her hair, how to act and that she needed to do well in school.  That was all she could do, and her opinions were not appreciated and would sometimes trigger a violent reaction from Elvis.  What appeared from the outside to be a perfect marriage was very much the opposite.  Pricilla finally discovered that she had value and talent and did seek her own life in Los Angeles.

Our movie goers gave this film a 3.5-star rating.  We left the movie feeling confused and sad for Pricilla, hoping that her new life would bring her peace and strength.  We highly recommend that people see the movie 'Elvis' before seeing 'Pricilla' as it gives you more insight on the pressures that Elvis was facing during their marriage.
