The health and safety of our community is our highest priority. Livermore Area Recreation and Park District has been working closely with the Alameda County Public Health Department to determine how we may safely re-open our aquatic facility. While we are still not allowed to open to the public for recreation swim, swim lessons, lap swimming or water exercise, we have been given authorization to provide limited opportunities through youth camps for swim and water polo teams. We have partnered with Livermore user groups to follow very specific health and safety guidelines required by the health department. We are not offering recreation swim or swim lessons at this time. We will open our aquatic facility for additional programming once we are authorized to do so. Community members may call our main office at 925-373-5700 or visit our COVID-19 News and Information website for the most current updates. For activities you can do at home with your family during the shelter in place order, please visit our Stay & Play Virtual Recreation Center. Thank you for your support and understanding through these unprecedented times.
The Livermore Area Recreation and Park District operates two (2) aquatic facilities, the Robert Livermore Aquatics Center and the May Nissen Swim Center. The Robert Livermore Aquatics Center spans 45,000 square-feet with a 25-yard-by-33-meter pool available for lap and recreational swimming, lessons, water polo and exercise classes. The Center’s zero-depth-entry activity pool has an interactive play structure with waterfalls and water cannons. The pool also includes a 22-foot-long spiral water slide. The May Nissen Swim Center has been in operation by the District since 1962 and today, features an eight-lane lap pool measuring 25-meters long by 20-yards wide. There is an additional wading pool within the facility which is perfect for little ones. We strive to offer a wide variety of aquatic programs; register online to find the perfect class for you.
